Do you drink a lot of water? Have you tried to drink water...keeping that water bottle filled at your desk, bringing in the car, only to drop off again? There are many benefits to drinking water, the most promising, being the detox benefits.
I drink as much water as possible everyday. It is recommended that a person drink at least half of their body weight in ounces every day. For example, if you are a 140 pound female, you should try to consume 75 ounces per day. I weigh about 118 pounds and drink probably 80-100 ounces of water every day. You are probably thinking that is crazy, but this is Habit "numero uno" that all of my clients establish before making any other significant changes in their behaviors.
Since I have started drinking so much water I have noticed some beneficial improvements in my health.
Most of these can be attributed to just staying super-hydrated.
Here is a little water recipe I picked up along the way. It is really good, but if you just need something a little extra, just try fresh berries or 2 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil!
Citrus Cucumber Water
10 mint leaves 1 lemon, sliced 1 cucumber, sliced 1 tablespoon grated ginger Juice of 1 lime
Drop all ingredients in the bottom of the pitcher, cover with ice about 1/2 way up then add water and stir.
Place pitcher in the fridge for a few hours before drinking and enjoy!

Cucumbers have amazing anti-inflammatory qualities that can reduce swelling, as well as soothe and soften skin tissue. Cucumbers are also packed with vitamins A, B, and C, which will make you feel radiant and energetic while protecting your immune system. Magnesium, potassium, and silicone all combine to heal and refresh the skin, your largest organ, as well as your body!
Lemon is a bright and refreshing flavor that always leaves us with more mental clarity, but there are many physical benefits as well! Lemon can clear up acne when ingested or applied topically, and also relieve canker sores with proven antibacterial and anti-fungal agents. Any time you’re feeling a cold coming on, sip on some immune-boosting lemon water with honey to keep it at bay! I use Lemon Essential Oil drops in my water almost as much as fresh lemon now! It is so delicious and detoxifying!
Limes are high in calcium and folate, and inhibit melanin production, which will leave you with younger, healthier skin! They are also anti-carcinogenic, protecting you from cancer as well as kidney stones! Swap your lemon for a lime every now and again; they’re worth it!
Mint aids with digestion, nausea, headaches, respiratory disorders, coughs, asthma, depression, fatigue, and acne, as well as giving you some pretty amazing breath!
Ginger does wonders for digestion and will detoxify your gastrointestinal tract in a variety of ways. For one, ginger improves nutrient absorption by stimulating gastric and pancreatic enzyme secretion and relieves stomachaches, pain, and inflammation. Ginger is powerful: regular consumption of ginger slows the growth of colorectal cancer cells!
